A Bird in the Hand

A bird in the hand is worth a lifetime spent in friendship.
A bird in the hand is worth a rosebud stolen, a kiss given.
And that little bird, to all appearances insignificant,
Unwelcome immigrant to these shores,
Holds within itself the key to something all-encompassing.
A bird in the hand is worth a question asked, an answer given.
A bird in the hand is worth a proposal accepted.
